First of all, never use your battery in extreme conditions or even just storing them in such condition may harm them.  For example, don’t leave your laptop inside the trunk in the middle of hot summer day or when it is freezing out.

second, if you are looking for laptops, consider the one that is smaller and also lighter in weight.  These compact laptops will generally last longer than the bulkier counterparts.

You can also adjust the power settings in your laptop’s control panel.  This will help your batter last longer.  Of course this option still depends on the function that your computer can process.

One way you can do to clean your battery so it will not develop rust and debris is to simple take cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe off all the connectors.
